Alcohol and Drug Abuse Crisis Resources

On-Campus:

Naloxone (Narcan) is carried by Mountaineer Medics, App State Police and many other first responder agencies in Boone and Hickory. Call 911 if you suspect any kind of overdose or if you have administered Noxolone.

Access free Noxolone (Narcan) from Student Health Service or Wellness and Prevention Services at no cost, no questions asked and with no prescription required. 

Visit the Miles Annas Student Support building in person on Weekdays from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. and weekends from 8–11 a.m. Both offices are located in Miles Annas. Walk-ins are welcome.

Find resources for your recovery journey or for supporting others. The Mountaineer Recovery Community assists each individual by helping to prevent relapse, encouraging autonomy, providing support, increasing academic success, and offering a safe space on campus to process, grow and reflect.

BASICS

Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students (BASICS) is a program that offers students an opportunity to examine and explore their alcohol and other substance use in a safe and non-judgmental atmosphere.

Substance & Addictions Counseling

Substance and Addictions Counseling is an opportunity to explore your overall health and well-being concerning your personal use of alcohol/drugs or someone else’s use of alcohol/drugs.

Overdose Prevention Resources

Naloxone and fentanyl testing strips can be accessed at no cost. In North Carolina, students can anonymously gain access to Naloxone/Narcan and use it without consequence under the Good Samaritan Law and the Naloxone Access Law.
