    For App State Boone and Hickory campuses, classes will not meet until after Tuesday, Oct. 15. Adverse Weather Condition 3 (Closure) has been extended through 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11. Residence halls, dining facilities and campus medical facilities remain operational. If you or anyone you know is in immediate danger, call 9-1-1. Mountaineer Safe Walk
The mission of the Appalachian State University Mountaineer Safe Walk service is to provide a safety escort service for students during the evening hours. The service area is strictly limited to university properties only (parking lots, residence halls and academic buildings), and is designed specifically to provide assistance to students who may feel uncomfortable walking alone after dark. The service is offered during the fall and spring semesters and is available from 9:45 p.m. - 2:45 a.m., seven days a week, excluding university holidays and both summer sessions.

Rave Guardian Campus Safety App
This app available through Appalachian Police Department presents two additional safety services: a safety timer, which will notify people you trust to check in on you, and a two-way texting service to report suspicious activity.
Timely warnings
In compliance with the Clery Act, App State will notify the campus community upon confirmation of a significant emergency or dangerous situation occurring on the campus that involves a threat to the health or safety of students or employees. Timely warnings are triggered by crimes and incidents that may have already occurred but represent an ongoing threat.
Annual Security and Fire Safety Report
Published each year to inform students, employees, their families and the public about safety and security policies on campus, and to share information about supportive resources available to those who need them. Also includes police response and fire suppression statistics for the last three years.
