Dear Appalachian Community:

Our campus has been touched by the disappearance of James Martin Roberts, who goes by his middle name, and who was last seen near campus on April 21. Our thoughts and concerns are with Martin and his loved ones and we hope for his safe return.

While Martin is currently enrolled at Caldwell Community College, Appalachian’s University Police have joined other agencies in working with the Boone Police to assist in the investigation and search. Boone Police have widely circulated information and we are working with them to share the description below and the attached flier to ensure it reaches as many people as possible.

Martin is described as 5'10" tall, weighing 145 lbs. with light brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a black, short-sleeved shirt, an Appalachian State windbreaker, khaki shorts, gray sneakers and a white golf visor. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the Boone Police Department at 828-268-6900, High County Crime Stoppers at 828-268-6959.

We ask the campus community to keep Martin, his family and friends in your thoughts and to reach out if you have any information that might assist in the search.
